Almost Turkey time. Seems like a lot of the great ones have passed this year, including our own John T. , "get-a-job" Henry from Worcester and Larry W. from Townsend and many others...seems like frequent wakes and funerals. Last Wednesday our group had a commitment to 4 Corners group in Worcester. We had a great showing which would have made John T. proud, I know I was. I didn't think we would break 300 years of sobriety on a commitment for a good long time after John's passing in May, but we had 12 speakers. Little Jimmy played group mathematician and tallied us up. 10 people with more than 24 years, Peter K at 9 and Tom G with 4.5. Although Tom was the young one, he was the most dedicated. Rushing from class to make the commitment, his car died on 290. He left it and walked 1/2 hour to the meeting and spoke last. We had 8 speakers get up and the 4 waiting in the wings had 92 years between them. (Tom B.,Lil Jim, One-Day-Charles, Mark D., Paul L., Otto, Katie, Peter K., Paul M., Dennis A., Rocky and Tom G.)
The grand total was 312 years, one day at a time. John T. would deliver his "God Bless your Efforts" line, no doubt.
